Prevention and Protection

Clothing Recommendations
Many people with EB can wear regular clothing without developing blisters but generally, tags must be removed and tight elastics should be avoided. Soft, loose fitted clothing is best for fragile, EB skin. For those with particularly fragile skin, clothes are sometimes worn inside-out so that the seams are on the outside of the clothing, where they will not irritate the skin and cause blistering. Clothes may have to be adapted and sometimes, removing the collar and cuffs from shirts is helpful. When these efforts do not prove to be successful, bandages or soft undergarments (t-shirts, leggings) may be necessary to protect the skin.
